Hi! I’m Kim, I’m a certified birth doula and childbirth educator. I was trained through DONA and had the privilege to be part of the UCSF doula program where I participated in countless unique birth settings. I am a life long learner and I am both honored and grateful to have worked alongside many other amazing birth workers during this extraordinary experience. We are each passionate about supporting and advocating for birthing families. I approach birth work with compassionate, evidence based care. I believe in providing you all the information you need to make the best decision for you to have the most positive birth experience possible. I believe much of the anxiety and fear about labor and birthing comes from a lack of knowledge. As a childbirth educator, I do all I can to give you all the tools you need for great preparation, planning and realistic previews of what to expect throughout your labor, your birth and immediately postpartum with your sweet new baby. As a young birthing person, I personally suffered a traumatic birthing experience which resulted in fetal demise. Buckled with my own lack of knowledge, my inexperience, the lack of care from the medical staff and my inability to speak up, I was left with years of post-traumatic distress. Having now processed my own, wounding experiences, I can firmly, respectfully and confidently advocate for other birthing families with extraordinary compassion. I also bring tender comfort and maintain exceptional dignity during this very sensitive time. I have a (now grown and flown) Rainbow Baby, which allows me to uniquely connect with families who may be experiencing the emotional anxiety in their pregnancy after a loss. I also bring my life experience of at-home insemination and understand the challenges and complexity of this broad spectrum of options in family planning. Whether you are planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural, or a planned cesarean, I provide the support you need to help you and your partner feel confident and relaxed about your birth experience. You are powerful! Regardless of the way you choose to give birth, you deserve dignity, respect and to feel safe in the birthing environment. We will work together, in a judgment free zone, to ensure you are empowered to maintain agency over your choices. The birthing process is as vulnerable as it gets and choosing me as the support person you trust is a high honor I do not take lightly. Let’s discuss your birth plan and how I can best support you!
